Blogosphere - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blogosphere is the collective term encompassing all blogs as a community or social network.
The term blogosphere was coined on September 10, 1999 by Brad L. Graham, as a joke [1].
The blogosphere is emerging as a gauge of public opinion and cultural memes, and has been cited in both academic and non-academic work as evidence of rising or falling resistance to globalization, voter fatigue, and many other phenomena.

 Blogosphere - dKosopedia
The "Blogosphere" is a term that refers to the world of blogs (Web logs), the bloggers who blog them, and those that frequent and comment on them.
We can't say but we suspect so, because the blogosphere is about the democratization of journalism and information.
We have lived in a world where every story is "out there" and yet remained unheard, but the blogosphere serves to accentuate, emphasize, identify, sort, collate, frame, and herald this information.

While the Internet as a whole, and the blogosphere in particular, are made up of practically incalculable complexities of interaction these may all be articulated at the level of specific, particular and local instances of communication and, where human agency is concerned, of forms of courtesy.
This contextual mediation of identity in the blogosphere is analogous to online multiplayer simulated environments and presents comparable challenges faced by such environments in the construction of civil society though tends to be less beholden to single corporate owners of virtual geographies such as the Sims Alphaville or the online metropolis that is Everquest.
The blogosphere is an environment in which new and unique trans-national and trans-cultural conversations and relationships emerge that are neither particular to locale, nor generalizable to commonplace abstractions of globalization.

By contrast, the left blogosphere is populated by “citizen bloggers,” who work in non-political occupations for a living and blog for reasons of personal interest.

BuzzMachine » Blog Archive » There is no blogosphere
I don’t think it’s wrong to use the term “blogosphere.” I just think it’s naive to assume that everyone understands it to mean the same thing, or that all blogs somehow agree with one another or follow some mystical rules of physics that apply universally in some sort of collective entity.
The term blogosphere is a container for all the personalities and conversations that are occuring.
The problem is in the word “blogosphere.” It has connotations of a self contained entity, one with physical properties to be studied and analyzed.

Technorati has been tracking the blogosphere, or world of weblogs, since November 2002, and I'm constantly amazed at the growth over the years.
As this chart shows, back in November of 2003, the blogosphere had doubled in size in 40 days - probably because Technorati was new and was just picking up all of the blogs that were out there in the world.
One of the most interesting statistics that has changed since the last State of the Blogosphere is that English has retaken the lead as the #1 language of the blogosphere.

For example: if I were to use the power law to rate myself as a blogger, then I'd have to mark myself as a complete failure compared to say Robert Scoble.
