Blohm + Voss Ha 137 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Ha 137 was Blohm + Voss's entry into the contest to equip the re-forming Luftwaffe with their first purpose-built dive bomber.
Although the contest would eventually be won by the infamous Junkers Ju 87, the Ha 137 demonstrated that BandV's Hamburger Flugzeugbau, not even two years old at this point, had a truly capable design team of their own.
It quickly became apparent that the Hornet was so large that the visibility during diving was greatly affected, and the RLM then suggested that the third prototype be completed as a 6b with the Kestrel, delaying it slightly to change the engine mounts and add a somewhat odd looking radiator under the nose.

Blohm + Voss - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
From about 1930 to 1945 Blohm and Voss also designed and built aircraft for use by both the German state airline, Lufthansa, and the air-force, Luftwaffe.
Although initially given the factory code Ha (for the factory's official name), the link with Blom and Voss shipyards proved too strong and therefore the early aircraft designs were called "Blom and Voss, type Ha..." followed by the design number.

Contrary to much that has been written, all Bv 141s ordered were produced and delivered.
The Blohm + Voss team came up with several other asymmetric designs, but none were actually built.

Yet it is this same build quality that has allowed some enthusiasts to acquire significant power increases with turbocharged engines through fairly simple and inexpensive modifications.
The recent development of biofuel alternatives to fossil fuels has unleashed the ability to produce a net-sum of zero emissions of CO, as it is re-absorbed into plants and then comes full circle, being used to produce the fuel.
Ethanol is also used in some cases, since it has a high octane rating which means it can be highly compressed before spontaneously igniting.

THE GREAT PLANES Community - GOT: The Blohm & Voss Ha 139 / BV 142
Only some weeks before the Ha 139 did their last flights on the northern route, on August 10th to 11th, 1938, a FW 200 had made a non-stop flight from Berlin to New York.
The last flight of the Ha 139 on the northern route was on October 18th, 1938.
The proposal to derive the new plane from the successfull floatplane Ha 139 was immediately accepted by Dr. Richard Vogt and his team, and the project P.38 needed only short time to be presented.

Mach 2 1/72 Blohm and Voss Bv 142
Blohm and Voss attempted to adapt the Ha 139 seaplane into a transatlantic mail transport for Lufthansa, but its mediocre payload and performance did not pass the corporate "so-what" test.
Attempting to salvage the project, Blohm and Voss engineers replaced the mail storage bay with a bomb bay and added an He 111-styled ventral cupola in an attempt to interest the Luftwaffe.

 Diesel engine
Diesel engines are more massive than gasoline/petrol engine of the same power because of the heavier construction required to withstand the higher combustion pressures needed for ignition.
Large electrical generators are driven by medium speed engines, optimised to run at a set speed and provide a rapid response to load changes.
This is quite rare because of the high importance of power-weight ratios in aeronautical applications, and the development of kerosene -powered jet engine s and the closely-related turboprop engines.

Operated by Deutsche Lufthansa in the transatlantic transport role before the war, the three Ha 139's were appropriated by the Luftwaffe at the outbreak of hostilities.
V1 and V2 were used as transports in the Norwegian campaign while V3 was rebuilt in 1940 and redesigned the Ha 139B/U. The most obvious changes were the inclusion of a long observer nose.
The Ha 139B/U was later rebuilt and redesigned the Ha 139B/MS, being equipped with minesweeping equipment in the form of a large current-carrying degausing ring for detonating magnetic mines.

This has the effect of slowing the rate of combustion, which tends to reduce audible noise.
Diesel engines produce very little carbon monoxide as they burn the fuel in excess air except when under full load, at which point a full stochiometric quantity of fuel is injected per cycle.
The penalty is a dead interval during which the engine is inoperative, after which it was generally restarted with compressed air [3].

The valve has a single aperture to the pressurized fuel on one side, and one aperture for each injector on the other.
Each injector then has a solenoid which is operated by an electronic control unit, which enables more accurate control of injector opening times depending on other control conditions such as engine speed and loading, resulting in better engine performance and fuel economy.
The term "diesel" typically refers to fuel that has been processed from petroleum, but increasingly, alternatives such as biodiesel or biomass to liquid (BTL) or gas to liquid (GTL) diesel that are not derived from petroleum are being developed and adopted.
