Blonay, with a lovely view over Lake Geneva, lies above Vevey and Montreux at an elevation of 600-700 metres above sea level and can be reached from Lausanne in 30 minutes, either by rail or motorway.
Protected by its proud castle built during the twelfth century, Blonay is famous for the quality of its mild climate and for the charm of its slopes and forests.
There are ample opportunities during all seasons for mountain climbing, hiking and skiing in the vicinity of the peak of the neighbouring Pleiades (1400m).

It was replaced during the 1930's when the current saloon carriages were acquired and subsequently modified after WW II to an observation carriage on the Bernina Railway, unfortunately the modification saw removal of its grand interior decor and replacement by 44 plain rotating seats.
Towards the end of the 1960's, it was itself replaced and donated to the Blonay - Chamby Museum where it was used as a stationary souvenir shop until 1988.
Financial constraints prevented restoration to its full former glory, and thus the reconstruction was a compromise however the restroation has been carried out to a high standard, and has been well received by the public.

If you like railroads, and if you like museums… This is a tiny museum where you will see all kinds of old steam trains (1874-1935),you can catch one of these old trains from Blonay, it will bring you through 3 kms of trestle, tunnel and viaduc to Chamby.
Opened from Mai til October, Saturda and Sunday from 9 am til 6.30 pm, and Thursday/Friday afternoon in July and August.
There are some nice walks up there, and also restaurants to have a nice drink with a beautiful panorama.
