  COMPUTER GAMES
The computer game’s evolution has closely paralleled the larger "digital revolution": originating with computer hobbyists and "shareware" advocates in the 1960s, reaching the general public in the 1970s and 1980s consumer electronics boom and going on-line in the 1990s.
First-person shooting games became the focus of such criticisms, since similar simulation games were used for military training and some critics feared that gameplay’s constant "rehearsal" of violence might have been a factor in a spate of school shootings.
Defenders of computer games note, however, that many controversial games were not designed for children but rather reflect the tastes of older players: 70 percent of computer game players and 42 percent of console-game players are over 18.

 Blood (computer game)
Blood is a PC game created by Monolith Productions and distributed by GT Interactive in 1997, using the Build engine.
The game is supposedly set in the early 1900's and with its arsenal of curious weapons and numerous enemies, it gives justice to its name.
The weapons in Blood were quite revolutionary, most having a secondary attack mode which was not common in computer games at the time.

 Reference.com/Encyclopedia/Blood (computer game)
Blood's gameplay is similar to other classic FPS games like Doom, in that the player is required to activate switches and/or seek keys to proceed through the levels; on larger maps, finding up to six different keys may be required.
Blood was also the first FPS to feature dual or alternate attack modes for the weapons; most weapons in Blood have two completely different methods of dealing damage, in contrast to previous games in which each weapon had only a single type of attack.
The game's hero (or anti-hero) is a man named Caleb (voiced by Stephan Weyte), once the supreme commander of a cult called "The Cabal", worshippers of the forgotten god Tchernobog (voiced by Monolith CEO Jason Hall, who was credited simply as "The Voice").

A good example of Blood's chilling, difficult levels is "House Of Horrors," the secret level accessed at the end of "Dark Carnival." A cross between the movie Waxwork and a trip to the world's deadliest haunted house, this map is the perfect example of the power of Blood's sheer scariness.
With more and more 3D games relying on the immense popularity of their multiplayer abilities, it is easy for game developers to skimp on the single-player aspects of gameplay, giving gamers poor AI and mediocre enemies.
Blood's game world is one that thinks and acts on its own, without merely reacting to the player.

Massively Multiplayer Online Game - WoWWiki
A massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) is a type of computer game that enables hundreds or thousands of players to simultaneously interact in a game world they are connected to via the Internet.
MMOGs create a persistent universe where the game continues playing regardless of whether or not anyone else is. Since these games strongly or exclusively emphasize multiplayer gameplay, few of them have any significant single-player aspects or client-side artificial intelligence.
The addition of persistence in the game world means that these games add elements typically found in RPGs, such as experience points.

Thus it may be known that the leader of armies is the arbiter of the people's fate, the man on whom it depends whether the nation shall be in peace or in peril.
RTS games are all about gathering resources and swamping the enemy with troops until they die (or until you complete the mission objective - but most people just go with killing the enemy).
But since it is highly unlikely that a BFG game was being developed, it is all probably a moot point (although if one were to be made, I would hate to see it as an RTS!).

Violent games aren't a problem, says the computer gaming press -- while lovingly hawking the latest innovations in pixelated gore.
It's necessary to state this, because soon after the media descended on Littleton, Colo., the computer games debate devolved into uninformed, anti-game alarmism on the one hand and overwrought denials from the put-upon gaming/online community on the other.
But now, with some distance on the massacre, and on the eve of the annual E3 conference -- the video and computer game industry's premiere showcase -- constructing a more nuanced conversation is possible, I think.

In the late 80's there was a semi-successful computer game called 'captain blood' about a space mercenary that had to locate planets, blow them up or navigate their terrain and speak in an encoded language to the alien inhabitants.
it was a hot game for its time, and not so obscure that there can be no legal action against this new game.
BTW the unofficial sequel "Commander Blood" is even crazier than this game, including some truly bizarre and entertaining FMV alien puppetry as only the French can pull off.
