Bloodgood was an active chess organizer in Hampton Roads, Virginia in the late 1950s.
Bloodgood organized chess games within Powhatan Prison, primarily with inmates who were, for the most, very weak players.
Bloodgood died in Powhatan Prison of lung cancer on August 4, 2001.

But regardless, I like the Bloodgood version better because: (i) Les Carlsen is an infinitely better singer than James Hetfield, (ii) it’s not overlong by four minutes, (iii) it has a great bridge and uplifting chorus that contrasts well with the dark verses, and (iv) there’s no awful guitar solo by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett.
Bloodgood was a Christian metal band on a Christian label, and that, to paraphrase Spinal Tap manager Ian Faith, made "their appeal more selective".

I remember reading some years back that Michael Bloodgood's basslines were erased from most of the tapes shortly before their release date/deadline.
I guess Bloodgood couldn't make up their mind if they wanted to be a heavy power metal band ("Detonation") or a commercial metal band ("Rock in A Hard Place").
Bloodgood have alway been good song writers and especially proficient at writting ballads and power ballads, so it's no wonder that the best song is "I Want To Live In Your Heart," a power ballad with a killer hook.

Claude Frizzel Bloodgood (born Klaus Frizzel Bluttgutt III) was born in La Paz, Mexico on July 14, 1937 (some sources say he was born in 1924).
He was the author of "The Tactical Grob," "Blackburne-Hartlaub Gambit" (1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 d6), and "Nimzovich Attack: The Norfolk Gambits." In the late 1950’s, he was editor of the Viriginia Chess News Roundup and the rating statistician for the Virginia State Chess Association.
In 1974, Bloodgood escaped after he and another chess player (Lewis Capleaner, a murderer inmate) overpowered a guard (George Winslow) who was escorting them to a chess tournament.
