Bloodlust costs a set value to cast, so use it on a more expensive creature (with more powerful attack), which is better value-for-mana than using it on the lesser creatures whose attack increase will be insignificant.
The bloodlust spell is not a single shot like some other enchantment spell, and the effect will eventually wear off.

"Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust" continues the story which was presented in the original "Vampire Hunter" OAV which was released in the ’80s.
As D overcomes many obstacles in order to get close to Charlotte, he begins to learn that all may not be as it seems and that Charlotte and Meier may have their own agendas.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track on the "Bloodlust" DVD is one of the most aggressive surround sound tracks I’ve heard in a while.

Bloodlust follows its predecessor in that regard, but unlike the original, Bloodlust's animation is much smoother and more impressive.
Another annoying feature of Bloodlust, and a lot of Japanimation I've seen lately (although not nearly as prominent as in Bloodlust) is the way the English actors deliver their lines.

The animation is superb, fluid, and appropriate for the dark future where vampires and other monsters of the night roam the world.
When compared to anime series, it is tough for a movie to compare in terms of a viewer's feelings for characters, depth of plot, and character development.
Bloodlust is great because it's a well animated romp through the world of vampires, and it does retain just enough cheesiness to be Vampire Hunter D.

He also repeatedly runs into his competition, a pack of rough-and-ready bounty hunters, who, in spite of their extensive equipment and superlative fighting skills, mostly serve as cannon fodder.
The story is simple and predictable, though the characters stand out for their failure to fit into the simple good/evil paradigm of comparable American horror films.

Bloodlust is a great combination of action and beautiful animation.
Animation only comes to mind afterwards; when something is obviously better done through animation than special effects (somewhat as fl and white goes away after a few minutes of Young Frankenstein or Casablanca and comes to mind only when you think back on the film and realize color would not have been an asset).
Bloodlust has fabulous characters and a story complex enough and good enough to draw you in completely.

Set in the distant future the world of Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is not that of the sprawling metropolises seen in most anime but instead a desolate wasteland littered with remote villages where people live in constant fear due to the recent rise and superiority of the Vampire breed.
Continuing with the audio side of the feature anime purists are challenged by the fact Bloodlust was a collaborative effort, with all the story and animation being solely the work of the Japanese studio while the audio production took place in the US which means the original dub track is English.
Bloodlust is a rare anime title in that the original dub track is English and as such there will be no complaints here due to the lack of a Japanese dialogue track, although as there is one available it would have made a fine inclusion on this disc, but it was not to be!

 Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
It's a shame that in the post-Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon landscape, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is receiving its American release entirely dubbed and often poorly.
The offshoot of the decision not to retain the Japanese voice actors is that many of the stereotypes of dubbed Asian cinema (stilted dialogue, bizarre philosophizing, unintentional humour) may convince neophytes to dismiss the film as camp.
For all its pyrotechnics, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust succeeds (as does Ninja Scroll) on the strength of a blue thread of melancholy woven tightly in counterpoint to incomparable visual audacity.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust still has a few of those head-scratching qualities (occasionally stilted dialog, and a strange tendency to counterbalance gore with sentimentality) familiar to those of us who love anime but are still quick to point out its peculiarities.
Thematically, Bloodlust doesn't aim quite as high as Princess Mononoke, Japan's last successful import, but it turns out to be just as good a film, because it hits its mark so perfectly.

 RPGnet: Review of Bloodlust
Beyond the (not entirely novel yet never really used in an RPG) concept of sentient weapons that try to influence their bearer, the world of Tanaephis is a pretty interesting take on the S&S genre.
The three middle ones are fairly explicit; the difference between Prestige and Reputation is that the former is a general measure of how much the character is known, whereas the latter is purely linked to combat: it is the measure of fear you strike in your opponent’s heart.
In conclusion, I feel that Bloodlust is a game whose concept deserves to live on.

So, while Bloodlust had some good moments, I’m going to take a stab at explaining why many of us were not feeling the usual giddy love.
Bloodlust painted their roles as too simplistic, made their brotherhood less about mutual need and more about Sam being the show’s moral compass.
And in order to do this, all of Sam’s questionable choices and reasons for hunting (revenge, obsession, anger, the sudden need to please his dead-dad) were carefully brushed under the rug while Dean’s were ineffectually highlighted, and neither character was done justice.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust DVD Review - Digital Retribution
As it is, Bloodlust's storytelling is a bit like the Frankenstein monster; so many parts from so many places that while it all looks good, it's still a monster.
When a young girl is kidnapped by an unseen force, her father and brother call upon D to bring her back, convinced that a vampire has taken her.
This isn't necessarily a problem with Bloodlust, just one that occurs a lot in anime, and those who aren't quite used to it will likely find it to be a bit of a stumbling block.
