Bloodsport (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bloodsport is particularly remembered and known as a martial arts film for showcasing a great number of different fighting styles throughout its many martial arts scenes.
Bloodsport is a tetralogy of films, although Jean-Claude Van Damme does not appear in any of the sequels.
Bloodsport II: The Next Kumite, Bloodsport III, and Bloodsport 4: The Dark Kumite were all released direct-to-video, and they all starred Daniel Bernhardt.

Inspired by the same Ruts/Killing Joke/Stranglers sources as Bloodsport's counterparts, the slabs of innovative, guitar-dominated walls of post-punk power-rock ("Better and Best," "Sixes and Sevens," the instrumental "Killing Floor" and the chilling "Rhymes of Reason") are just what one would expect: solid and invigorating.
Bloodsport continued as an unrecorded trio after Bergeron left; all three members currently back singer John Kezdy in the Effigies.
Although Bloodsport still exists, Björkland moonlights in the re-formed Defoliants and Haggerty is in Pegboy, a new band with his ex-Raygun brother John.

The World War 2 Store: Bloodsport 3
Following the previous 2 all-around excellent Bloodsports, part 3 is a sad disappointment in terms of any excitement until the last 30 minutes of the film, where it all makes up for it with some of the best fights ever.
Bloodsport 3 has a few returning characters from the 2nd film, including the main character, Alex Cardo (Daniel Bernhardt).
Bloodsport 3's only bright spot is the fights, which are not disappointing at all.

The first Bloodsport will always be the best of the series, and probably remains as one of the best martial art movies of all time.
Bloodsport 2 does not have the classic feel that Bloodsport has, nor does Daniel Bernhardt fill Van Damme's shoes, and the villain Demon (played by Ong Soon Han) does not come close to the on-screen presence of Bolo Yeung.
The story to Bloodsport 2 is nothing to write home about, but as far as fights, the beginning to the end of his film has nothing but continuous fights (both in and out of the tournament).

Bloodsport established Van Damme as a bankable action star and it was also one of the best martial arts films shot in the era of Rocky and Schwarzenegger.
Bloodsport was his introduction to Hollywood and he was looking as good as ever.
Though Bloodsport ends with a loving tribute to Frank Dux and his accomplishments, the film should not be taken too seriously on any level, especially when his action choreography is neither as realistic or as gripping as it could have been.

The second Bloodsport did star Donald Gibb (Frank Dux's big friend) from the original and considering the general shortage of quality tournament style Martial Arts films, the second Bloodsport movie is generally thought to be pretty good.

The original film actually spawned three sequels, but they had little to do with the original film and were released straight to video.
