Bloor Street is a major east-west commercial thoroughfare in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The street is named after Joseph Bloor (or Bloore), a developer of this area in the 19th Century and founded the Village of Yorkville in 1830.
Bloor Street serves as the northern-most edge of the campus of the University of Toronto, and is host to several of Toronto's historic sites including the Bata Shoe Museum, The Royal Conservatory, the Annex, and the southern edge of Yorkville.

The Prince Edward Viaduct, more commonly known as the Bloor Street Viaduct or simply the Viaduct, is the name of a bridge that spans the Don River Valley in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, crossing over (from east to west) the Don Valley Parkway, the Don River and Bayview Avenue Extension.
It connects Bloor Street East, on the west side of the valley, with Danforth Avenue on the east.
Officially the bridge is the Don Valley Phase of the Prince Edward Viaduct system; the system also including the Rosedale Valley phase (a smaller bridge carrying Bloor Street over the Rosedale Ravine) and the Sherbourne Phase, an embankment built to extend Bloor Street East to the Rosedale Ravine from approximately Sherbourne Street.

The Bloor subway passes beneath the Yonge line, at the north end of Bloor station, and a new Yonge station was built to connect with it.
The transferway between the Bloor streetcar and the Yonge subway was abandoned and demolished.
Bloor Street’s bridge over the Rosedale Ravine, which is also part of the Viaduct, was also built with provision for a lower deck but this was unsuitable for the subway’s alignment.

The house my family lived in when I was born was located at the top of what was, Bloor St. Originally it was home to the Walkley Liberal party, a large stone built house at the top of a row of terraced houses.
There was a living kitchen, and a formal sitting room with bay window overlooking the street, and a large formal staircase to the upper level.
Bloor Street was flattened, along with Harworth, and Elton streets to the west, to make what is now Ruskin Park.
