blue monday was put on the back burner as melissa and i went on to start another band and do other things (our band firesign actually did a lot of blue monday songs).
blue monday is one of my all time favorite bands, not only because i consider them friends but because their music is so goddamned beautiful.
I only wish Blue Monday included the lyrics with this release, because this is really the kind of music you want to sing along with and try to match their melodies.

New Order's 12-inch single 'Blue Monday' was one of those very rare tracks that broke new ground, thanks to its radical use of drum machines and electronic musical equipment, yet also enjoyed huge chart sales.
Obtaining the original 'Blue Monday' tracks was a big step, as it meant that Roger could potentially sample any single element of the track for live use.
For the final 'Blue Monday' arrangement, kick, snare, drums left and drums right were placed on separate tracks of the DR16, together with the Moog Source bass, Bernard's vocoded backing, and other stereo keyboard parts.

The little grey mare named Blue Monday SMR #157 was bred on the Cayuse Ranch, sired by Choctaw, the Oklahoma transplant whose fictional alter-ego carried Bob Brislawn in Margueret Henry's San Domingo, the Medicine Hat Stallion.
It is interesting to note that Choctaw's SMR number today is #66, but in the Tally Book he was recorded as #156, just before Blue Monday, and #66 was a blank or unused number.
Blue Monday was primarily a brood mare and produced many horses which continue her legacy today, most notably the many foals by Crane bred at Porterville at the Wild Horse Research Farm which later became the Horse of the Americas.

The club 69 remixes of Blue Monday are better than the Optical vocal remix, but the DJ Dan remix is the best.
Although I do like Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday", I thought (and still do) that the remixes on the single were pretty terrible, except for the Club 69 remix but otherwise I didn't like the rest of the remixes.
For starters, with the exception of the first track (the single mix), if you just blindly pop this CD into your player without looking at it, you'll be hard pressed to figure out what you're listening to, which isn't necessarily bad, as some of these songs come off really cool.
