BEAVER DAM, Town, in the county of Dodge, being township 11, of range 14, and south half of town 12, range 14, and south half of town 12, range 13, eight miles west from Juneau, the county seat.
BLUE MOUNDS, P. O., at the oldest settlement of Dane county, in town of same name, on section 5, town 6, range 6 E., 25 miles northeast from Mineral Point; and is the same distance west from Madison, on the great stage route and thoroughfare from the Mississippi to Milwaukee, via Madison.
BLUE MOUND, Creek, rises near the Blue Mounds in Dane county, and runs northwest, uniting with the Black Earth river in the town of Arena, Iowa county.

The Town of Dunn's efforts to preserve its wetlands and wildlife are symbolized in its patch by Lake Waubesa to the west, Lake Kegonsa to the east, and sand hill cranes who nest only in large areas of undisturbed marshland.
Indian burial mounds, often in the shape of animals, are scattered on hillsides surrounding the lakes.
The town hall, built in 1868, is a classic example of the one room wooden clapboard meeting halls that were built during that era.

Two of our town roads, "Indian Trail" and "Blue Mounds Trail" were named after an old Indian trail walked by the Indians on their way from their campgrounds along the Wisconsin River to Blue Mounds where they held their ceremonials.
While the schoolhouse was built in Section 28 of the Town of Vermont, it served students from the Town of Blue Mounds as well.
Seven years later in 1855 Vermont was segregated from the Town of Blue Mounds and became a separate entity.

How about a lap at Blue Mound, followed by a cruise west on Military Ridge (rail trail) to Gov. Dodge, looping through the 9 miles of rolling doubletrack, then back east on Mil Ridge to another lap at BMSP, followed by a dip in the pool.

Blue Mound State Park is on the tallest hill in southern Wisconsin, about 25 miles west of Madison.
The 1,153-acre park is a popular place for swimming, hiking, camping, cross-country skiing and mountain biking (both double and single track) and finding peace and solitude.
(Mounds Road becomes Mounds Park Road once you leave the village.) The park entrance is one mile north of the intersection of Highway ID and Mounds Road.
