Shelter Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shelter Records was the record label started by Leon Russell, and Denny Cordell.
Shelter Records was originally distributed by Blue Thumb Records, but then it was distibruted by Capitol/EMI from 1970 until 1973.
Afterwards, the label from 1975 onwards was distributed by ABC Records (the first label being yellow; the second one was reddish-orange with the Shelter logo inside a Saturn-like planet with a crescent man-in-the-moon at the bottom of the label) until 1979, when ABC was sold off to MCA.

The Story of Blue Thumb Records
Blue Thumb was one of the first companies that realized this new set of airwaves was important for music; they were one of the very first record companies that got into recording albums.
In its six years of existence, Blue Thumb was never a smashing success, but Krasnow and LiPuma, both of whom stayed the course, were able to put out between 60 and 100 albums (nobody knows for sure) of music that encompassed the wild, the unusual and the blatantly non-commercial.
Blue Thumb's artwork was all done by Tom Wilkes and Barry Feinstein, from their Camoflage Productions office in the Hollywood Hills.

Imagine my surprise in rummaging through the record racks to find an old friend in Blue Thumb with a strange sounding name of a group that included Robbie Krieger and John Densmore from the then deceased Doors.
The album was recorded in London and Jamaica which may explain the diverse quality of the songs.

 Robben Ford CD Review
It's been almost two years since the release of Supernatural, Robben's fifth for the Blue Thumb/Stretch label, and although a new CD can't be far off, I felt that Supernatural should not be overlooked as it represents a significant change in artistic direction, and very likely could be his best work to date.
If you were a fan of The Blue Line, the band that Robben has not used on his last two recordings, don't despair, it has not reduced his capacity to "cook on high" turn up "When I Cry Today", before relaxing to the six minute rendition of "You Got Me Knockin'".

It is possible to record an album which is a vehicle for returning Smith to a wider listening audience.
On the other hand, it is a universal truth of modern blues recording that if you want a wider audience you will not hear anyone playing the hell out of the blues.

Redbone established himself as somewhat of an oddity in the music business, taking mostly pre-World War II songs and imbuing them with what can only be thought of as Redbone's unique style and humor.
After 11 albums he continues to capture and promote the essence of what popular music used to be, long before sophisticated recording techniques such as multiple tracks, overdubbing and sampling became standard practice.

CD Review of Paco de Lucía - Cositas Buenas on Blue Thumb Records @ jazzreview.com
After his five years of soul searching which removed de Lucía from the recording studio, he has released Cositas Buenas, an album that features the guitarist without his regular sextet, providing a heightened appreciation for his ability to simultaneously set up percussive foundations and to tell his own stories in music.
That blending of influences, even as de Lucía remains true to flamenco form, is most evident on “Casa Bernardo,” which features Latin-influenced trumpeter Jerry Gonzalez in a flowing and muted counterbalance to de Lucía’s cascading phrasing.
Using a previously recorded tape of de la Isla’s voice, de Lucía has overdubbed the guitar part to recast her singing in a different perspective.
