 P Class - 31178 - Restoration   (Site not responding. Last check: )
As there seemed very little chance of the Bluebell Railway restoring the locomotive, it being too small to operate most of their trains, an approach was made to the Railway in 1989 by a group of Port Line shareholders that they be allowed to purchase the locomotive for eventual restoration and use on the railway.
Fortunately, the Bluebell Railway had purchased a large amount of P class spares when they bought the locomotives in 1969 and these spares included a boiler.
An agreement was reached that we be allowed to use the spare boiler in return for assisting in the restoration of their third P class, No 31027, a favourite of some of the older Bluebell members as it was one of the first locomotives to work on the railway.
