The Blueprint - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Blueprint (2001) is the sixth album from rapper Jay-Z.
Originally intended to be released on September 18, 2001, the album's release was pushed forward one week (to combat widespread bootlegging), thereby coinciding its release with the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Half of The Blueprint became a battle album, in which Hova, from on high, attacks Nas, Prodigy, and all manner of prosecutors and persecutors.

Shooting 50 - The Boston Globe
Under the tutelage of an established hip-hop legend, a young rapper arrives on a wave of hype and releases a commercially and critically popular major-label debut.
That's not a story the rapper is interested in telling, nor does it seem to be one the mainstream's particularly interested in hearing.
Lost on those who champion the rapper for ''keepin' it real," is the fact that, however harsh his upbringing, 50 Cent is now as much a gunslinging drug dealer as Tom Brady is a Pop Warner-level quarterback.

Blueprint now lives in Cincinnati, and Rjd2-- coming off the heels of a critically lauded Def Jux debut and endless well-earned comparisons to DJ Shadow--recently transported himself to Philadelphia.
Their precision work comes from separately logging lots of stage time: Blueprint ripped microphones in more than 60 cities last year on a grueling trek with Atmosphere, and Rjd2 frequently spins solo and toured heavily with Def Jux acts.
While Blueprint's charismatic flow sparkled on the bustling "Printmatic," Rjd2 spun his self-produced track with neck-jerking percussion.

Blueprint :: The Weightroom :: Weightless Recordings
With "The Weightroom," Blueprint has created a solid musical symphony, with a couple of gems from some of the underground finest emcees, and a few slight miscues, which can be attributed to having a handful of affiliates who aren't quite up to par with the A-List of emcees on this album.
The parable warns bullies and criminals of the possible retribution and karmic repercussions that may come along with their actions, each rapper narrating their own anecdote which has the miscreant causing havoc until the tables are turned, at which point he meets his eventual undoing.
Blueprint's story comes off the best, but Flip the Urban and P. Dunbar don't disappoint either, pounding home the message that what goes around, comes around, and Print's cinematic production is nothing less than the exceptional.

DETROIT (AP) - Rapper Jay-Z, with a bottle of water in one hand and a microphone in the other, told an audience at the city's Cass Technical High School about the importance of staying in school.
The rapper, whose album "The Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse," debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, didn't perform for the students, the Detroit Free Press reported for a Friday story.

Jay Z is not the best rapper though, he is just really high up there, and he is currently running the rap game.
The Blueprint is a worthy solo album in which he attempts to show his greatness by himself, however I wish he woulda had just a couple more guest appearances on the album, but the album is still almost perfect.
The album starts with the Ruler's Back which is a great track, a nice beat, and Jay Z worthy lyrics, which to me settled the whole Amil thing, as to whether she was with Roc A Fella or not, and it's done with style, great lyrics.

Ignoring the criticism, Jay-Z's next release, Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse performed well selling 550,000 copies in its first week of release on its way to moving nearly two million copies in the U.S. The rapper shifted his focus to other areas in the entertainment realm.
Those who accused the rapper of recent mediocre efforts have indicated that this album is a return to form for Jay-Z.

A rapper's worth is apparently measured in how much of a "playa" he can present himself to be.
And "Renagade" actually quickens the pulse, although that's due to the scene-stealing rhymes of the deft, mercurial Eminem (not for nothing is this track shoved to the back of the disc -- Z is clearly shown up as the wannabe he really is).
But for the most part, The Blueprint is a head-scratching affair, another jewel in a crown of tissue.

The Guide -- Making ‘Blueprint’ for Soulful Rap
While different than his past effort The Blueprint succeeds not in the amount of club tracks that it includes, but instead in a return to the lyrical quality of Jay-Z’s most acclaimed work, 1996’s Reasonable Doubt.
Lines such as “[They] wasn’t born hustlers, I was burpin’ ‘em,” pull off an arrogant style Jay-Z uses that is only backed up by the fact that he actually does the numbers he boasts in his songs.
Just as the “Can I Get A”s and the “Big Pimpin’”s of previous albums have made their styles popular across the board, I would not be surprised to see that The Blueprint convinces and influences many that soulful hip-hop can be made well and sold in the millions.

The Blueprint may be Jay Z's most captivating record since Reasonable Doubt, but its predictably detached mood reflects the master hustler's superior ability to trick out lackluster subject matter with lyrical complexity and brief flashes of manufactured introspection.
The beats are strong on "The Blueprint" and J Hova raps mainly solo throughout the entire album except for Renagade with Eminem, a rarity in today's rap game.
The Blueprint is a surprising hit in the music world, and most people will be pleasantly surprised to hear this amazing album from Jay-Z. And now that the master of rap is retiring, you should find this even more valuable in your collection!

Finally, we've included a "bonus track" on this playlist: the Timbaland-produced "The Bounce" (from Jay-Z's The Blueprint 2), which marked the Roc-A-Fella debut for Kanye West the Rapper.
