Blues Magoos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Blues Magoos were a music group which hailed from the Bronx.
By 1966 the band had changed its name to fit in with the psychedelic vibe of the times - they first changed their name to the Bloos Magoos, though they changed that to the more conventional Blues Magoos.
The next single by the Blues Magoos, "There's A Chance We Can Make It," was only a minor hit, with its b-side "Pipe Dream" actually charting higher (though neither side hit the top 40).

Debut LP Blues Magoos '66; next two went gold: Psychedelic Lollipop '66 (first LP to use 'psychedelic' in title, also advising 'play at high volume'), Electric Comic Book '67.

 Blues Magoos
Near the end of '66, the band was calling itself "Bloos Magoos" and Mike Esposito was brought in as their new lead guitarist.
The song was a Top Twenty hit for the 'Magoos' in America and finished at number 72 for the entire year, but failed to achieve the same success in the UK.
Although they were only "one hit wonders", Blues Magoos, with their electric suits and giant, onstage lava lamps, are fondly remembered as a classic example of the "psychedelic" music era.

The Blues Magoos were a wonderfully raw and powerful group who could craft some great, catchy tunes- yet still played with a tremendous amount of raw punk energy.
While I'm satisfied with the Kaleidosopic Compendium collection, there has to be a re-issue of their Masterpiece "Basic Blues Magoos." It was truly a work of genius.
I thought that the only way to enjoy the incredible sounds of the Blues Magoos was to dig up some old four track tape cartridges or an LP which provided services as varied as wall decorations to ash trays and beer coasters.

The Blues Magoos played their "psychedelic music" in a concert with four other groups Sunday afternoon in the St. Paul Auditorium arena.
While they waited for the Magoos, they wandered around the arena floor, smoked, made friends, occasionally paired off and generally acted oblivious to the music from Danny's Reasons and the T.C. Atlantic - both local groups - washing over them.
ODDLY, the Music Machine did what the Blues Magoos promised but later failed to achieve: the Music Machine produced a pschedelic effect that was almost eerie.

 Interview With Blues Magoos
In the mid-1960s, The Blues Magoos were riding high with a song called "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet".
But, then when we went home, it was all Country-Western, Rhythm and Blues and Delta Blues rehearsal sessions.
So, in essence, we were lightweight because none of us had material enough to play Blues so to speak, to a level that would be considered heavyweight or medium weight.
