 SCRI: The Voluntary and Community Sector in Blyth Valley — developing a vision for the future (2003-2004)
Blyth Valley Council and Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) commissioned SCRI to undertake research into the future development of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in Blyth Valley.
It was proposed that SCRI would work with a variety of relevant stakeholders to identify the key external and internal drivers of change facing the VCS in Blyth Valley and to examine potential responses.
It is anticipated that this will form the impetus for a wider debate on the future of the VCS in Blyth Valley, and further consideration of the options outlined in the report.

So as a resident of Holywell and Blyth Valley, I too share some of the concerns being expressed, not only by the FBU, some councillors and the public at large, in Blyth Valley, that if the present proposals are accepted Blyth Valley will lose its two fire stations at Blyth and Cramlington.
If the object of the exercise is to win the hearts and minds of the people of Blyth Valley, then I would suggest to fire chiefs and politicians that the best way to do this is to be prepared to listen to alternative views and ideas and not dismiss them out of hand.
My final concern is that I am led to believe that a number of Blyth Valley county councillors have already expressed their support to the present proposals.

The Mayor of Blyth will give a Civic welcome to the European Traders at 12:00 noon and it is hoped that the BBC Big Blue Bus will attend the Event broadcasting live between 10:00am and 1:00pm with resident presenters Ian Robertson and Paul Wappat.
