 German Games
Boardgames have traditionally been seen as a little lame with the exceptiion of during Christmas, which in my case resulted in members of my family huddled around a dog eared copy of Monopoly or Cluedo in an attempt to get on and have fun.
It was almost as the boardgame was merely a tool to keep people in the same room and act the "family".
When I talk about German boardgames I need to explain that it would be more accurate to describe them as European Boardgames but the predominent country for these games is Germany and they were the Vanguard for the rest of Europe and set the standards.

News: Junior Boardgames First Screens - GamersHell.com
Junior Boardgames is a collection of traditional family games, set in various parts of the home and garden.
Each of the games has stood the test of time and features gameplay relevant to its location and content; for example, a game of battleships is played with toy boats in the bath, whilst dominoes played in the garden sees ladybirds with their spotted backs becoming the playing pieces.
Without any trace of the violence or danger which is so often found in games these days, Junior Boardgames is simply family entertainment for players of all ages; easy to play and fun for everyone.

 Kulkmann´s G@mebox - International Boardgames
Although the global history of classic boardgames dates back several centuries (Chess, Mensch-Ärger-Dich-Nicht being some of the oldest concepts), the great variety of boardgames as we know them started only in the middle of the 20th Century.
The game Monopoly which was first released in the 1920's indicated the way for later games, and a few decades later some producers in different countries around the globe started manufacturing the first modern boardgames, departing from the traditional gaming concepts.
If you look at the market today, you see a strong dominance of german boardgames, but this has not always been this way.
