Boozer's contract was sold to the New York Knicks in the middle of the 1963-64 season, and Boozer spent the next 1½ seasons in New York.

A two-time consensus basketball All-American at Kansas State University, Bob Boozer graduated as the school's all-time scoring leader, was the first player from K-State to play for the United States Olympic basketball team, and was the first player selected in the 1959 National Basketball Association draft.
Boozer led the 1958-59 Kansas State team to a Number-one national ranking with a 25-2 record including 14-0 in the Big-8 conference.
During both the 1968 and 1969 seasons, Boozer ranked among the NBA scoring leaders with averages of 21.5 and 21.7 points.
