Bob Budiansky - Teletraan-1: The Transformers Wiki
Bob Budiansky was the writer of most of the Marvel US Transformers comic book series and the creator of much of the mythos, characters, and names behind the first several years of the franchise.
Though Optimus Prime was named by O'Neil, Bob Budiansky is responsible for the names of Megatron, the Dinobots, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and countless others.
Bob Budiansky was moved from editing duties to writer.

Sleepwalker (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sleepwalker is a Marvel Comics character created by Bob Budiansky, named after his race, and is the star of a self-titled comic book which ran for 33 issues from June, 1991 to February, 1994.
These characters faded into obscurity faster than Sleepwalker himself and haven't been seen since the end of the series, save for 8-Ball who appeared briefly in the 2005 She-Hulk series and the Daughters of the Dragon mini-series.
Budiansky's concept dates to the late 1970s; however, he originally called the character Alien until the Ridley Scott film of the same name was released, at which point he shelved the character.

Iacon One Guest Update: Bob Budiansky - The Allspark Forums
Bob Budiansky turned his childhood fondness for reading comic books into a 20-year career in the comic book industry.
Bob was the editor on the very first Transfomers mini-series in 1984, followed by scripting most of the next 50-plus issues of the monthly Transformers comic book.
Bob is one of the most interesting guests we've ever had at a convention, and I was afraid we wouldn't have him back.

 The Transformers Archive
Budiansky took a short break for "Plight of the Bumblebee", a decent enough character piece on the titular Autobot in US #16 written by Len Kaminski, and then came his master storyline.
Budiansky's newest heroes were renegade Autobots Blaster and Goldbug, who had deserted the main Autobot force, unhappy with Grimlock's leadership.
As a competent artist, Bob is going to lose heart big-time if his hard work scripting comes out looking as, frankly, ugly, because he's got a guy who obviously didn't read 'How to Draw Transformers'.

Bob Budiansky wrote the American Transformers series from issue 5-55, in doing so turning characters like Shockwave, Ratchet, Blaster, Fortress Maximus and even hi-then-die’s like Scrounge and Straxus into major parts of the Transformer mythos.
Bob's mistake was to introduce the Headmasters and Pretenders, etc. in the present day.
Bob had more talent than Furman in my opinion, because most of the time he tried to write intelligently and thoughtfully, rather than just spectacularly.

The first sign Budiansky wouldn't be able to cut it long-term on Transformers.
Overall, a fitting conclusion to the "Return to Cybertron" mini-arc, although the two stories are somewhat overrated by a large portion of fans - it doesn't really seem to be Budiansky's finest moment, and certainly isn't up to the same level as his first arc.
Skids is a very likeable character, and it's nice to see a pacifist Transformer actively opt out of the war, and especially with such a charming person as the very fun Charlene.

As for the content of the issues themselves, things take a turn for the truly bizarre as Bob seems to be writing down the first thing that comes into his head...
The purple cassette is the type of Decepticon leader we haven't seen before or since — not a "Bwahahahahahahaing" maniac, he's a efficient businessman with his eye on the bottom line and a nice sardonic attitude.
Jessie, who you may remember has already appeared in skimpy leotards and bikini's, is once again used to fulfil Bob's private fantasy life — here she finds cars unbelievably sexy and snogs Buster like there's no tomorrow, and the idea of the Decepticons stealing an empty fuel tanker does undermine their credibility a bit.

It dated back to the Bob Budiansky era of Spider-Man, when there was still talk of launching THE LOST YEARS as a new Spider-Man franchise.
I called Mike and Bob, and was fortunate to reach them at a time when they had openings in their respective schedules, and could work on the four issues.
Consulting with Bob Budiansky, who was still editing Spider-Man, we worked out a new version of the story that was based on what was going to happen in the core books during those six additional months.

GrayHaven Magazine presents.. "The Life of Reilly" [ Chapter 24 ]
As long-time readers of this column know, Budiansky had been the Editor in Chief of the Spider-Man Group, but became Spider-Man Group Editor when Bob Harras was promoted to Editor in Chief of Marvel.
The year that Bob Budiansky supervised the Spider-Man line had its fair share of creative turmoil, frustration, indecision, and abrupt changes in the writing team.
Once Budiansky was gone, Bob Harras promptly dissolved the Spider-Man Group and placed all four of the core titles with one editor.

Grimlock is quickly named the new Autobot leader and it is in these stories that the characterisations given by Bob Budianski and Simon Furman most jar.
While Furman's interpretation of the new leader is of a likeable, rebellious anti-hero who reluctantly accepted that he was one of the good guys, Budianski's is of a completely unlikeable, almost psychotic tyrant with a speech problem who would really fit in better with the Decepticons.
But overall it's not hard to see that Budianski was quickly running out of ideas, which will be confirmed in 'Treason'...
