Cherry paints a world of winter, of fl and gray, of adamant challenge, of ice and snow and arguments over the last coffee, of chewing tobacco and glass eyeballs, of trappers and loners haunted by a variety of spirits, some human, some indefinable.
Fortunately, Cherry is such a good writer that the disadvantages of “Spirit of the Raven” are outweighed by the advantages.

Because Jack felt it was important to encourage and recognize new blood in the field, NESFA presents the Gaughan Award annually to an emerging artist (an artist who has become a professional within the past five years) chosen by a panel of judges (currently Bob Eggleton, David Cherry, and Ron Walotsky).
