 NHBA - Bar Journal Issue
In his twenty five years at Franklin Pierce Law Center Bob Viles was assistant dean, dean, contracts professor, president, vice-chair of the Board, architect, interior designer, landscaper, fundraiser, oenologist, parking attendant, singer, comedian, historian, chauffeur and ambassador-at-large for the Law Center.
Rather than recruiting scholars who would produce law review articles that would pave the conventional path to acceptability in legal education circles, Bob chose lawyers who had practiced law who were interested in teaching students about practice and the analytical skills needed to practice.
He was the soul of Franklin Pierce Law Center and we shall deeply miss him.

WE'VE GOT THEM DEAD TO RIGHTS STEALING THE VOTE, STEALING SOCIAL SECURITY, AND NOW WE'VE GOT TO GET OUT AND MOBILIZE
Lyndon LaRouche was interviewed on Dec. 16, by "Front Street" hosts Charles Traylor, Wendy Huntley, and Bob Fitrakis on Columbus, Ohio station WVKO 1580AM/103.1FM.
LaRouche, is there a tie-in between what now they're acknowledging in Franklin County here--that is, massive voter suppression of poor people, African-Americans; you know, the shorting of machines--a deliberate attack upon the voting rights of poor and minority people in Franklin County, and what now appears to be an economic attack on people's Social Security?
FITRAKIS: I'm wondering if you'd be willing to comment at all upon the tragic death of Gary Webb, who, again, exposed that operation, the large amount of cocaine coming to the United States, and the role of the U.S. government.

An analysis of the Franklin County Board of Elections’ allocation of machines reveals a consistent pattern of providing fewer machines to the Democratic city of Columbus, with its Democratic mayor and uniformly Democratic city council, despite increased voter registration in the city.
Franklin County, Ohio’s formula served to disenfranchise disproportionately poor, minority and Democratic voters under the guise of rewarding the “likely” voter or active registered voters.
Franklin County had traditionally used a formula of one machine per 100 voters, with machine usage allowable up to 125 votes per machine.

The Trouble With Shrum - Why the Democrats' top strategist can't elect a president. By Joe Klein
This message is not only a proven loser but also the intellectual opposite of the expansive, inclusive, "rising tide" public activism that moved a generation of Americans, including Bob Shrum, to get involved in politics in the first place.
The least successful form of populism usually is economic (the Great Depression was a possible exception to this rule; Franklin Roosevelt did rant against economic royalists, but he was too sweet-tempered to rant for long).
It should be noted that Shrum had no part in Clinton's brilliant 1992 campaign, although he did contribute significant patches of rhetoric to presidential speeches during the Clinton administration.

But on the critter's arrival at Craig, Bob Ellis took advantage of all the hoopla during the town of Craig's impromptu donkey-welcoming parade and had ready big painted signs that said "Don't be a jackass, fly with Ellis Air." The burro later became a retiree in Ketchikan, fondly tended by volunteers.
Bob Ellis was among the members of the relief expedition sent out on the rescue mission.
In 1944, while still at Kodiak, Ellis - along with everyone else except perhaps the very top brass - was startled to learn that President Franklin D. Roosevelt was to visit the base on his secret wartime voyage to Alaska.
