We went to Bob Wills' home for a jam session, a meal, a get together, a rehearsal, a homecoming of Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys in preparation of an album which was to make musical history, and I was part of it.
The jam session had started, Betty rolled Bob into the living room, there were drums, fiddles, steel, guitars, all of it was there, and he was in the middle of it again......we rehearsed, played for fun, ran over songs for the session.
Ol' Bob had his microphone and was trying to put his ahh-haa's in, they were there, but not as crisp as they were in days gone by.

John Wills was successful as a farmer and by 1921, he had moved to a 600-acre ranch/farm near Oxbow Crossing, which remained their home until 1931.
Wills moved to KVOO Tulsa, where in February 1934, Bob Wills And The Texas Playboys finally began to broadcast and this time O'Daniel's attempts to stop them failed.
Wills was unable to attend the recordings but in 1971, he was reunited with 10 of his old Texas Playboys at Haggard's house, near Bakersfield, and watched and listened as recordings were made.

James Robert (Bob) Wills (March 6, 1905 – May 13, 1975) was an American country musician and songwriter.
By 1945, Bob Wills had moved to Sacramento where he operated the Bob Wills Point nightclub, but continued to tour where his dances outdrew those of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and other high profile bandleaders of the day.
Bob Wills continued to tour and record well into the 1960s, when he influenced performers Buck Owens and Merle Haggard in a style of music now known as the Bakersfield Sound.

James Robert (Bob) Wills, musician, was born on March 6, 1905, near Kosse, Limestone County, Texas, the first of ten children of John and Emmaline (Foley) Wills.
The album, For the Last Time: Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, sold more copies than any other in Wills's career and was awarded a Grammy Award by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the highest achievement of any Wills recording or any other recording in the history of western swing.
Bob Wills died on May 13, 1975, and was buried in Memorial Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Bob Wills was often called the 'King of Western Swing', but it should be noted that the title first belonged to Spade Cooley, and only went to Wills on Cooley's death.
Originally the band was called 'Bob Wills and His Playboys', but Jimmy Revard, whose own group was called, Jimmy Revard and the Oklahoma Playboys, convinced Wills to rename his group the "The Texas Playboys".
