I can only describe this new sound as west coast synths over digital beats, with Rza practically freestyling over the tracks, its meant to sound raw but in places it sounds clumsy, we were given a taste of it on 'The Swarm' which didn't really impress but I had to check the album anyway.
'BOBBY' kicks things off where he just spells out 'Bobby digital' in the chorus, but its gets more sinister as things progress, and he's left the end of this track open so we can enjoy the instrumental for the last minute.

It's no shock that he brought Bobby back; the first Digital outing, Bobby Digital in Stereo, was a high mark in the Wu Tang Clan producer's prolific career.
Meanwhile, there is a storyline to this installment of the Digital story, but as on In Stereo, listeners have to use some imagination to fill it out; RZA's rhymes are often as evocative and opaque as the kung-fu flicks he loves.

The "concept" is that RZA plays superhero Bobby Digital, whose main powers seem to be making time with hoes and smokin' weed -- RZA, however, ends up treating it like an excuse to slur his vocals, ramble incoherently about how he's gonna mess you up, and produce backing tracks that are adequate at best.
Consequently, Bobby never gets a real backstory, although I'm sure it was fun posing in the superhero mask for the liner notes.
A few tracks rate multiple listens: "B.O.B.B.Y." is funny and has a brilliantly obnoxious hook; and "Lab Drunk", one of four bonus tracks featuring RZA as himself (!), is the only song to feature the dynamics that made the Clan's debut record so engaging.
