In an early episode one of Bobby’s clients is charged with trafficking cocaine – that’s 15 years jail, and the judge has no discretion to reduce that term.
Bobby wants to be able to tell the jury that his client declined the offer, to show them that she must really be innocent to have refused even a minimum of jail time (and therefore risk a long prison sentence).
This is because she has been charged with "facilitating drug trafficking", which means she allegedly had a large amount of cocaine under her control and possession – the law assumes that she intended to sell it.
