Representative Barbee and his wife Jackie were guests at a recent trustee meeting when the college board passed a resolution honoring Barbee's service in the legislature and his support of the college.
The vase is on display in the Honeycutt Community Room with a base that notes Barbee's years of service in the NC House and his contributions to the people of Stanly County.

Survivors in addition to his parents are a brother and sister, Chase Andrew and Haley Nicole Barbee; paternal grandparents Charles and Rita Barbee of Montrose and paternal grandparents Jerry Williams of Lake Village and Mary Williams of Malvern.
Born October 3, 1928, to the late Calvin and Carrie Claudia Kelly White, she was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Smith; two infants, and several brothers and sisters, Dewayne, Bud, Gene, Goldie, Bernice and Olin.
Bobbie Jean Adkins, 54, of Crossett, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at North Monroe Hospital.

Barbee said he will be ready for it, as he and his supporters put together a plan of action.
While supporter turnout was lower for the primary than Barbee would've liked, he said he was glad Union County was behind him where he garnered 50 percent of the vote from a field of five candidates.
Fred Barbee has represented to area for a long time, I do not remember know which side he was on the Morgan/Daughtry argument he seemed to be rather quiet on it.

Bobby DeLoatch, 71, of Davis Road, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby after a brief illness.
Harold K. Leuschner, 70, of 1329 Kings Circle, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

Two Montgomery precincts, Eldorado and Uwharrie, were placed in District 67, along with Stanly County and a portion of Union County.
The 916 registered Republican voters in those two precincts will choose from among Bobby Harold Barbee, Kenny Furr, Lester Galloway, W.P. Davis or David Almond to face Democrat June Mabry in the November general election.
When the districts were redrawn, Anson County, home of current Montgomery County Rep. Pryor Gibson, was put in District 69, where he is running for re-election.

In House 67 in and around Stanly County, David Almond won the most votes, just as he did on July 20, only this time it clinches things by defeating incumbent Bobby Harold Barbee, who had become at least a quasi-ally of controversial House Co-Speaker Richard Morgan.
And in Forsyth County’s House 74, Dale Folwell defeated county commissioner Debra Conrad-Shrader, who had originally met with Morgan to discuss her candidacy but later distanced herself from the internal GOP struggle.
