BBC - Films - review - Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Remade again as " Body Snatchers " in 1993.
When they come as thrilling as Don Siegel's 1956 classic, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", it seems ludicrous to attempt a remake.
Yet director Philip Kaufman did just that in 1978, and produced a film every bit as chilling.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956)
He re-used Kevin McCarthy in a number of film cameos: The Howling (1981), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Innerspace (1987), the comedy spoof Matinee (1993), and including an appearance reprising his Dr. Bennell character in Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003), now elderly, clutching a seed pod and still muttering that everyone was next.
The subtle, low-budget film (at about $420,000) is very effective in eliciting horror with slow-building tension, even though there are no monsters (just indestructible plant-like pods), minimal special effects, no violence in the take-over of humans, and no deaths.
The prologue and its unconvincing matching epilogue were not in the original shooting of the film and were later tacked on.

 Snurcher's Guide: My Three Crichtons
John is likely referring to the 1956 film INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS or one of its two remakes, the 1978 version of the same title and the 1993 BODY SNATCHERS, all based on a novel, THE BODY SNATCHERS, by Jack Finney.
The "evolved" version of John (Future John) is either missing external genitalia, or is substantially less endowed than his template; Aeryn implies that there is a noticeable difference when Future John first emerges unclothed from the sphere, and later grins when he comments that there are some obvious physical differences from John Crichton.
John Crichton has been gaining confidence and cockiness over the past year and half, but encountering his two variations has clearly shaken his understanding of himself.

 Zap2it.com - Movie news - Jennifer Tilly Isn't Meg's Nude Body Double
Her sister, actress Meg Tilly, is shown in a nude scene in one of her last movies, a 1993 sci-fi thriller "Body Snatchers." For the past decade, both sisters have been asked whether older sister Jennifer actually did the nude scene in the film directed by Abel Ferrara.
Film buffs and professional critics alike have speculated the credit was for her sister, keeping the brief revealing nude scene in the family.
"I tell you, it's like this urban legend that has haunted me and I've been trying to put a stop to it, but the more I do, the worse it gets," sighs Jennifer, who's a voice in the animated film "Home on the Range" that opened this weekend.

Jeff Goldblum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Goldblum's strong supporting roles include those in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), The Big Chill (1983), Into the Night (1985), Earth Girls Are Easy (1988), Jurassic Park (1993), and Independence Day (1996).
Jeffrey Lynn "Jeff" Goldblum (born October 22, 1952 in Whitaker, Pennsylvania) is a film actor, known for his often quirky, intense or comedic characters (often scientists), distinctive appearance (dark haired and lanky, and at 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) he is one of Hollywood's tallest actors) and his unique, stuttered delivery of lines.
Goldblum was good-humored about the relapse, and it became something of a running joke in his acting career, featuring most prominently in the T. Rex chase scene in Jurassic Park (1993) and the scene where he and Will Smith outfly an explosion in Independence Day (1996).

 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL — 1993
Body Snatchers gives the Martian school of cinema a nihilist twist by sug gesting the space invaders see us not as brave and willful earthpersons who must be tamed, but as crawling, corruptible lifeforms pretty much like themselves.
Wenders' Martianism aims to answer the riddle of "What does it mean to be human?" by bringing an alien onlooker to Earth.
