In this case, two contracts for technology demonstrators were awarded in June 2000, to Boeing for the X-46A and to Northrop Grumman for the X-47A.
Boeing never disclosed much information on the X-46A, but the overall design was generally similar to the X-45B except for a new wing planform.
Both Boeing and Northrop Grumman were developing an aircraft to fulfill the J-UCAS requirement, and flight testing of both systems was expected to begin in 2007.

Boeing 747 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Boeing lost the contract to Lockheed's C-5 Galaxy but came under pressure from its most loyal airline customer, Pan Am, to develop a giant passenger plane that would be over twice the size of the 707.
Boeing is now working with airlines to create a new 747 design called the 747 Advanced which will use same engine and cockpit technology as the 787.
Boeing was quite keen to discourage the media and the public using the term "jumbo jet" for the 747, but their efforts were in vain, and now the term is synonymous with the 747.

Although Boeing and customer flight crews have reported shudder on the -600 and -800, these reports of shudder may be attributed to heavily damped shimmy vibration which is being erroneously identified as "shudder." If this is the case, the shimmy dampers should help eliminate vibration upon landing.

Airbus has now surpassed Boeing in total sales for two years running, and its A380 seems to be a hit.
As I understand it, Boeing chose not to compete with the A380 'cause they don't see a big market there--400 possible sales just isn't enough to justify such massive expenditures (Airbus says there're 1200 possible sales).
I know Boeing is leading in UAV's for the US military so they are going to be around for awhile with those.

About an hour after it landed, X Prize founder Peter Diamandis announced that SpaceShipOne's team had claimed the prize, awarded for the first privately built, manned rocket ship to fly in space twice in a span of two weeks.
The first roll occurred at a high speed, about Mach 2.7, but aerodynamic loads on the spacecraft were low and decreasing rapidly "so the ship never saw any significant structural stresses," he said.
Diamandis, who founded the X Prize eight years ago, hoped it would have the same effect on space travel as the Orteig Prize had on air travel.
