Saint Leopold Bogdan Mandić (1866-1942) was born in Herceg Novi in Boka kotorska, and died in Padova, Italy.

Boka Kotorska was annexed to Montenegro in 1945.
A result of the assimilation and systematic persecutions from the Serbs and Montenegrins in the Boka Szymborska region was that the population of the Croats began to diminish rapidly since Yugoslavia was created in 1918, and especially after the aggression against Croatia in 1991.

Boka Kotorska (Bay of Kotor, Bocca di Cattaro) in western Montenegro is a winding bay on the Adriatic sea.

During the Slavic migration in the sixth and seventh centuries, Croats settled along the Adriatic coast from Istia to Albania, regions as far north as the Drava River, as far west as Sulta, and as far east as the Drina.
The final decision came at the all-important Vienna Congress of 1814, in which Austria was confirmed as the successor of all the territories of the Venetian and Dubrovnik republics.
