Boleslav II became Duke (or Prince) of Bohemia in 972.
Boleslav maintained good relations with the Ottonian German kings, and in 975 supported Otto II during his civil war against Henry of Bavaria.
Boleslav's reign is mostly notable for the foundation of the Bishopric of Prague in 973.

Boleslav III was blinded and imprisoned, probably dying in captivity some thirty years later.

Boleslav II secured the establishment of the bishopric of Prague in 973 or 974, under the metropolitan authority of the archbishops of Mainz.
He was usually loyal to his suzerains, the Holy Roman emperors Otto I, II, and III, whom he helped in their conflicts with the Polish princes, though his support of the rebellious duke of Bavaria, Henry the Wrangler, caused Otto II to lead punitive expeditions against him in 975 and 977-978.
