Bollington (map sources) is a village in the county of Cheshire in the north of England, north of Macclesfield and east of Prestbury.
Bollington's most famous landmark is White Nancy, a monument to the Napoleonic Wars at the summit of Kerridge Hill.
The railway was built to serve the cotton mills of Bollington and Kerridge stone quarries as well as the coal fields in the area, principally at Poynton.

The organisers of this first Bollington Nostalgia Hill Race were in fear and trepidation, having never run such an event before, but the race proved to be a great success and is now to be an annual event in the Bollington calendar.

 St Gregorys RC Church Bollington
Finance came from the Cheshire Fund, helped by the generosity of John, Earl of Shrewsbury, whose donation of £100 was allocated to St Gregory's in 1835.
This intrepid priest, who was to remain in Macclesfield for 55 years, until his death, served the people of Bollington for about ten years, though other priests gradually came on the scene: Fr Roger Glassbrook, Fr Edward Kenrick and Fr John Reah, this last-mentioned being the first resident priest in 1845.
He is described as 'perhaps the most dynamic of all Bollington's parish priests'.

The weekend starts with an evening meal followed by an organised singaround where the next singer/entertainer is chosen in order, there is no pressure to sing, you can just pass or read some poetry or a monologue or just listen.
I attended in September 2002 (Bollington 21) and enjoyed it so much that I hope not to miss another one.
The group consisted of a good range of ages from about 14 year olds to those of pensionable age, very friendly and welcoming, there were a few who sang unaccompanied but the majority played instruments as they sang.
