Bolt, Beranek and Newman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
BBN was a pioneer in developing computer models of roadway and aircraft noise, and for designing Noise barriers near highways.
BBN also is well-known for its parallel computing systems, including the Pluribus, and the BBN Butterfly computers, which have been used for such tasks as warfare simulation for the U.S. Navy.
BBN currently is leading a wide range of RandD projects, including the standardization effort for the Internet security architecture (IPsec), the networking technology in the JTRS communication system, mobile ad hoc networks, advanced speech recognition and quantum cryptography.

It will be the responsibility of the polling gateway to choose an identification number which is sufficiently "unique" to allow detection of out-of-date NR messages which may still be floating around the network.
If G sends an NR poll to G' with IP source network N, and G' is not a neighbor of G on its interface to network N (or G' does not have an interface to network N), then the source network field is considered "bad".
Suppose, however, that gateway G receives an NR message from G', in which G' indicates the presence of other neighbors G1,..., Gn, each of which is an appropriate first hop for some set of networks to which G' itself is not an appropriate first hop.
