I have the unfortunate luck of living and going to university in Bolton and ive just seen your report on it and i have to say that you are very accurate about the shithole.
Bolton never allowed hi-rise development so it is a nice place to walk around - however they do like to knock down places like The Derby Arms - a total dive but with a gorgeous interior - now gone.
The best things about Bolton is that the people are very friendly, there are plenty of pubs and clubs and places to eat out, it's close to Manchester for shopping and nightlife, there are always great pies/pasties round here thanks to Greenhalghs and Carrs Pasties, it's easy to get to Blackpool for a night/day out.
