Once again due to the ravages of foot and mouth disease it had to be rereccied and was finally walked on Wednesday 24th October 01, over 10 months after the original recce.
Bolventor is only a 45 minute drive from Plymouth no more than a trip across Dartmoor to Warren House Inn.
We set off at 10 PM, walked north east from Bolventor church along the road which runs parallel and alongside the A30 for a hundred yards or so until we came to a footpath sign, taking us down hill and away from the noisy A30.

One corner exhibits the room where the author stayed in 1930, soaking up inspiration for her smuggler's yarn.
As if this were not enough, his ghost is further tormented by a swarm of devils pursuing him as he flies across the moor in search of sanctuary; their infernal howling is sometimes audible on windy nights.

 North from Bolventor
The walk we did on 11 Sep 02 was from one of our favourite start points for North Bodmin Moor, the car park near the disused church at Bolventor, where Jamaica Inn is situated, just across the main A30 dual carriageway from Plymouth.
Bodmin Moor has a completely different feel to it from Dartmoor, it can still be hostile in certain conditions though.
We followed the lane as it descended south before swinging uphill again as it approached the underpass and the A30.

Umm, well, I doubt the first bit, unless she means the underpass to the East of Bolventor.
If heading towards Launceston on the A30 take the turn off for Bolventor but then take a sharp left turn (signposted 'Bolventor Church') and another immediate sharp left (signposted the same).
Instead imagine you were trying to get on the A30 towards Launceston, and you will see the Bolventor Church signpost on the bend just before the A30 starts again.
