Nueva Ecija is a landlocked province of the Philippines located in the Central Luzon region.
Nueva Ecija borders, from the south clockwise, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora.
Nueva Ecija was created as a military comandancia in 1777 by Governor General Clavería, with the capital at Baler (now part of Aurora).

Nueva Ecija, during the Spanish regime was made a military district in 1705, so-named by Spanish Governor Cruzar after his native town in Andalucia, Spain.
Nueva Ecija was one of the first eight provinces that took up arms against the Spanish Government on August 30, 1896 and was declared by Governor General Ramon Blanco "in a state of war".
Nueva Ecija was a rebel territory right up to the capture and surrender of General Emilio Aguinaldo in Palanan in 1901.

BONGABON, Nueva Ecija—Fifteen gunmen believed to be members of the New People’s Army raided a farm in this eastern Nueva Ecija town, killing six hogs and four cows, police said.
Romeo Velasco, the town’s police chief, said in his report to the provincial police headquarters that the attacked farm belonged to a certain David Yu in Barangay Makabaclay, Bongabon.
Previously, the NPA had raided the Rufina Homes Subdivision in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, after the village’s leadership declined to pay the NPA’s revolutionary taxes.

Bongabon farmers are feeling the weakening pulse of the contry's onion industry.
The Nueva Ecija-based Union of Growers and Traders of Onion in the Philippines (UGAT) said unchecked smuggling that has been compounding the problem brought by importation is sealing the death of the country's onion industry.
There are 13,400 hectares of farmland devoted to red creole farming, and 2,200 hectares for yellow granex, in Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya, Ilocos and the Visayas and Mindanao.

Senior Inspector Wilmer Carillo, Bongabon police chief, identified the escapees as Benito Clemente, 31, and Rolly Borje, 32, both farmers, who are facing robbery and homicide charges.
They were due for transfer to the provincial jail in Cabanatuan City, 28 km from Bongabon, which lies at the foothills of the Sierra Madre.

Its main link to the rest of Luzon is a narrow mountain gravel road, twisting across the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges between Baler and the municipality of Bongabon in Nueva Ecija.

Contacted by his cellphone, Engineer Manuel Y. Alejo Jr., chief of the Nueva Ecija 2nd Engineering Office (NEEO2), said that the Nueva Ecija portion of the BBR is in good shape.
He said that several scoured portions of the road from Bongabon to Kilometer Post No. 171-800 have been fully rehabilitated and rendered safe for travel by all kinds of vehicle.
