This was before the days of Thandiswa and if you listen to it you notice the considerable impact these two members had on the musical direction of the group.
It only has eight tracks but considering that five out of those eight would fall into the phenomenal category and only one is a little bit pap it is also essential to have.
He always seemed a bit of an anachronism in the Bongo Maffin vibe even though I felt that the diversity of approach he brought to the group was one of the things that made it interesting.

 Speedy goes solo
When the news that Speedy was leaving Bongo Maffin came, there were mixed feelings about it.
His last performance was going to be at The Rock ‘n Roll palace at the Bongo Maffin vs Boom Shaka event, but Speedy was not there with Red, Stone of Apple.
What was nice though, was the fact that they dedicated Diphendule to him, but perhaps a hidden message was that they had remixed the track in such a way, that one did not actually miss Speedy’s part in any of the tracks they performed.

Sure he’s been dissed as a Sisqo wannabee and many people thought he was making a mistake by leaving Bongo Maffin, but none of that deterred Speedy from forging ahead with his solo career plans.
But even before he left you could tell that he had different ideas of where he wanted to be: as much as he definitely contributed to the group he founded, when he left the group he didn’t seem to be quite fitting with what Bongo Maffin was about now.
