Bonham is a city in Fannin County, Texas, United States.
After the connection to the Texas and Pacific Railroad the city began to grow and in 1885 there were six churches, three colleges, two public schools, three weekly newspapers, a saw mill, two grain mills, a power plant and 2300 inhabitants.
The City of Bonham is served by the Bonham Independent School District.

Bonham, county seat and commercial center of Fannin County, is on U.S. Highway 82 and State highways 78 and 121 on the northern edge of the Blackland Prairie twelve miles south of the Red River.
Bonham incorporated on February 2, 1848, obtained a charter to incorporate land within a mile of the courthouse in 1873, and in 1990 operated under a charter granted in 1911.
Bonham was a division point on the Texas and Pacific railroad in 1873.

James Bonham, officer of the Alamo garrison, son of James and Sophia Butler (Smith) Bonham, was born at Red Banks (present-day Saluda), Edgefield County, South Carolina, on February 20, 1807.

It continues through the uncertain years of the Republic of Texas, to the Civil War era, through arrival of the railroad and the tumultuous beginning of a new century, the jazz age, and two world wars.
As might be expected from a museum housed in a train depot, items relating to the first railroad to be built in the area, the Texas and Pacific, are housed in a room devoted to the arrival of the iron horse in 1873.
The most recent exhibit "Bonham in the War" details Bonham's part in the war effort with the recreation of a section of the Jones Field pilot training base at the municipal airport.
