Bonington is in south-west Nottinghamshire on the border with Leicestershire.
Bonington in the first half of the twentieth century was a thriving village with various means of employment and a community with a diverse social mix of gentry, middle classes, tradesmen, farmers and working people.
Bonington was outside their area, so the car had to make its way to Loughborough where the Brigade received the call about 2 o'clock.

THE Bonington was packed for the long-awaited gig with Gilad’s new extended group which gave a superlative performance for the final Nottingham Jazzhouse gig of the current season.
We are always delighted to see Renato at the Bonington and his inclusion of the phenomenal Detroit pianist Kirk Lightsey in his quartet was the icing on the cake.

David participated in five expeditions with the well-known New Zealand climber Rob Hall including an ascent of Everest in the spring of 1994.

Sir Christian Bonington CBE, DL has been installed as Lancaster University’s second Chancellor in a ceremony held in the Town Hall of Lancaster.
Guests took their seats as an organ recital was given by the University of Lancaster Organist, Ian Hare, and the trumpet fanfares sounded as the academic and civic procession entered the Ashton Hall, where 40 years ago HRH Princess Alexandra was installed as Lancaster’s first Chancellor in 1964.
The Vice Chancellor called upon the Secretary of the University to read the sections of the Charter and Statutes which relate to the appointment of The Chancellor, and Sir Christian Bonington was invited to enter the chamber.

It was recommended that Sir Chris Bonington CBE becomes Lancaster University’s new Chancellor at the meeting of Court held on Saturday 31st Jan. This was subject to confirmation in a formal postal ballot held in February.
Chris Bonington, who was knighted in 1996, is Britain's best known mountaineer, he has led and been on 19 Himalayan expeditions, including 4 to Everest which he climbed in 1985 at the age of fifty, and has made many first ascents in the Alps and greater ranges of the world.
Chris Bonington said : “I am very happy to accept the honour of Chancellor and will do all I can to help and support the efforts of the University.
