Bonneville International Corporation, managed by Deseret Management Corporation, is a broadcasting company wholly owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church).
Bonneville International was formed with approval of the LDS First Presidency in 1964.
Due to an FCC media cross-ownership rule, Bonneville was unable to purchase additional media outlets in Salt Lake City beyond its existing television and radio station (KSL-TV and KSL Radio).

Bonneville International Corporation is a globe-spanning organization which has its roots in Utah, having been founded in Salt Lake City in 1964 by Arch Madsen.
Bonneville's programming is internationally known and recognized - for instance, founder Arch Madsen served on the board of directors of Radio Free Europe, and believes broadcasting to have been a critical element in the vast changes experienced recently in eastern Europe.
Later, in 1966, Bonneville acquired an FM station in New York City, and in 1970 another station in Chicago.

The salt flats drew international attention in the 1930's when Utah driver Ab Jenkins lured British racer Sir Malcolm Campbell to compete for speed records on the salt surface.
Although he never visited the salt flats, the area is named in honor of Captain B.L.E. Bonneville, whose expeditions in the 1830's proved the area was part of an ancient basin.
The Bonneville Salt Flats is administered by the Bureau of Land Management for public use and enjoyment.
