Booderee National Park is located in the Jervis Bay Territory of Australia, on the southern coast of Jervis Bay, approximately 200 km south of Sydney that is noted for its white sand beaches.
(Booderee is an Aboriginal word from the Dhurga language meaning 'bay of plenty' or 'plenty of fish'.) The former Jervis Bay National Park had been formed from the Jervis Bay Territory itself annexed in 1915 to provide a sea port as part of the Australian Capital Territory.
The Behwere Peninsula bordering Jervis Bay ends at Governors Head, and is mainly taken up with the Booderee National Park (formerly Jervis Bay NP), accessible by road.

Booderee is an Aboriginal word, which means bay of plenty — a description that dates back to a time when the first Aboriginal settlers, the Koori, came here to Wreck Bay, to reap the rich harvests of these warm coastal waters.
