National Parks are not only established for environmental protection – many of our parks in Queensland are custodians of our cultural heritage like Riversleigh section of Boodjamulla National Park- part of the Australian Fossil Mammal Sites World Heritage - in the far north west of the state beyond Mt Isa.
On April 15 1930 the National Parks Association of Queensland was formed with Lahey as inaugural President.
Today we are celebrating in Fort Lytton National Park – a park preserved for its cultural and historical value.

Boodjamulla Lawn Hill National Park is situated approximately 400km north-west of Mount Isa and 220km south-west of Burketown.
