Book club - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A book club is a club where people usually meet to discuss a book that they have read and express their opinions, likes, dislikes, etc. They may also be known as book discussion clubs, and meet in private homes, libraries, bookstores, restaurants over meals, etc.
A book club is also a euphemism for a game meant to keep track of how many alcoholic beverages a group of people have consumed over an unspecified time frame, often played by high school and college students.
It is common for the number of "books" the group members have read to be listed on a white board or other erasable medium in a common area of a dormitory or cafeteria.

There are major differences between the large book club groups, both in the physical quality of the books they distribute and in the manner in which they identify their books.
A "Book-of-the-Month Club" notation on the book's front flap is not necessarily an indication that the copy in hand is a book club release.
While the lack of a price when the book is published by a major American publisher is the most common indicator of a book club edition, the fact that there is a price present doesn't always means that the book is trade edition.

A book discussion group (sometimes referred to as a 'book club', sometimes as a 'reading group') is simply a group of people who get together on a regular basis to discuss books.
Because book clubs/reading groups are most often groups of people meeting informally, often in private homes, there is no one stop resource, online or offline, for finding local groups across the USA (let alone across the rest of the world).
For example, recently I was asked to find a book club in New York - a quick Google search using the terms 'book club new york' produced a wealth of potential links, including one site specializing in information for newcomers with links to all sorts of clubs and groups, including book clubs.

When i first read this book I was mad at the Nazis for their inhumanity, but after many decades I learned to redirect and balance my anger at those who led themselves like sheep to the slaughter.
What I did not remember about this book was that the Jewish sheep fought and scratched, and even killed their own for a scrap of bread, but did not think that they would best be served to act like humans instead of sheep and fight back as many did in the Warsaw ghetto.
Wiesel's descriptions in the book are fundamentally the story of those who would only take bread from the weakest of the flock as they moved from camp to camp, knowing that their ultimate fate was to die at the hands of the Nazis in the ovens.

Now you need to get the meeting started and, if the group is newly formed or you think needs a refresher, remind them of the 'rules' of your book group and how much time you have to discuss the book.
It's quite likely one or two might not have finished it (maybe they ran out of time or just found it tedious) - it's not a big deal, this is supposed to be fun, not a test.
Having said that, if after a couple of meetings you find many people aren't finishing the books in time you might want to review the types of books you're reading and/or extend the time between meetings, or check whether the people who aren't finishing the books actually want to be part of the book club!
