Comic book collecting is the result of an interest in antiquity, and nostalgia (Longing for something past), as is all collecting (The act of gathering something together) by its very nature.
The comic book (A magazine devoted to comic strips) was brought into the pop culture (additional info and facts about pop culture) arena by, most notably, Superman (A person with great powers and abilities) and Batman (An orderly assigned to serve a British military officer).
Comic book collecting is like all other collecting; while most collectors do so for personal interest in the enormous capabilities of the medium and the vast casts of characters, a few also collect exclusively for profit.
