 Helaman
Although Helaman was known simply as one of "the high priests over the church" (Alma 46:6), apparently he was the chief priest because "Helaman and his brethren" (45:22-23; 46:1, 6; 62:45) or "Helaman and the high priests" (46:38) always performed the ecclesiastical functions; no other presiding high priest is named.
When Helaman and his brothers attempted "to establish the church again in all the land" (45:22) after a protracted war with the Lamanites (43-44), their action triggered civil unrest led by Amalickiah, which in turn embroiled the Nephites in one of their most devastating wars.
Helaman3, son of Helaman 2, was the record keeper and chief judge in the land of Zarahemla for the fourteen years prior to his death in 39 B.C. Little is known of his personal affairs.

Moroni finished the book and became the last known survivor of the Nephite nation.
To fulfill the covenant that God the Father made with Abraham, with his son Isaac, and with Isaac's son Jacob (Israel), Mormon's record was destined to come forth to all of Israel's descendants in the last days.
In this book, Jesus states that the act of Israel's latter-day descendants reading this book is in itself a sign to them that the Father's work has begun...that He will soon fulfill His covenant to all the house of Israel, to bring them knowledge of their Redeemer and restore them to their lands of inheritance.
