Topic: The Book of Nods

  ||| Granary Books :: When Will the Book Be Done? |||
In a very real sense, Granary as a publisher was born with Nods; this book was the foundation of the master plan without a master plan, very much in keeping with my sense of Mr.
The desire was, in part, to resonate or rhyme with books from cultures and times very different from our own and to seek out a form of visual language rooted in the acts of assembling and marking, i.e.
This is a lean and learned work which focuses on relations between ancient and modern forms of the book and writing, "Ša vision of books as laboratories for the invention and performance of perceptual systems: new worlds carved out of the wilderness of human thought and language."21 Discussions with Mr.

Carroll's first new book of poetry in more than a decade, Void of Course presents work composed over the last two years.
I recommend this book that captures the life of talent gone to waste through the fall of addiction.

BookkooB: Trickster's Choice - Tamora Pierce
Book Details / Review - supplied by Amazon UK To the great joy of her many fans, Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice begins a new saga of Tortall to add to The Song of the Lioness Quartet, the Immortals Quartet, and The Protector of the Small Quartet.
Having (I think) read all of Tamora Pierce's books to date, I have to admit that this was not my favourite - it simply did not appeal to me as much as those of her earlier quartets did (although I think that this was probably largely due to changes in taste).
The book kept making excuses for her extensive knowledge of espionage, such as 'George [her thief father] had taught her this', 'somewhere or another she had learned that', but it didn't really seem probable for a fifteen year old girl.

This book by a medieval archaeologist-turned-local historian deals with the effects of 17th century enclosure by the lords of the manor on the community of Walberswick on the Suffolk coast.
The book nods occasionally towards archaeology but is mainly an examination of records of legal actions between landlord and tenants, interleaved with chapters on the economic background, enclosure and religion.
This book outlines what can (or may) be achieved in understanding the societies of the past by utilising the archaeology of vernacular buildings to complement the work of historians.

Reviews of Tripping: An Anthology of True-Life Psychedelic Adventures by Charles Hayes
While this is a very informative and useful book that charts the history of psychedelics from the ancient world to the present popularity of the rave culture, it is hard to see what kind of significance it will actually have overall.
The book's introduction provides the appropriate historical nods, while showcasing Hayes's exhaustive knowledge and understanding of the topic, and exposing the cutting-edge of current underground drug culture....While those narratives that relate the good times which psychedelics can provide are certainly plentiful, I suspect that the 'bad' and the 'ugly' descriptions are even more abundant.
A worthy and honest book such as this one should make us concerned to know which circumstances are most likely to promote change of great value, and which may lead in another direction.

The book is also intended to help those in companies who are looking for a hot date with civil society.
For readers coming from that direction there's plenty to chew on too: as numerous case studies in the volume show, not every case of NGO-business interaction can be 'win-win', and the dangers of trying to 'manage stakeholder pressure to corporate advantage' are very clearly spelt out.

The value of this "map" is increased substantially by the questions, checklists, inventories, exercises, and related activities which Bridges provides at the end of each chapter.
Extending the metaphor further, I also presume to suggest that Bridges expects his reader to be the DRIVER of this difficult but necessary process, not merely a passenger who passively reads his book and nods with approval without taking the requisite initiatives.
