  Poetry by Numbers
Poetry By Numbers is for now James's final book of three, which started with Side Salad, Thought for Food and has now finished with Poetry By Numbers.
With the two previous volumes of poetry they form an interesting and often obscure reflection of life, relationships, lost jobs, lost hope, dreams, they are part of everones's everyday life, poetry like a mirror will reflect this.
Poetry By Numbers is not the final book of poetry, but for now with Side Salad and Thought For Food it completes the set, which reflect and tell a story of life.

Order this book because it is a good, albeit uneven read, but also because of its historical significance.
I don't have a copy of this book, BUT I've seen a tattered copy being passed around among hardcore feminists and political types when I was in graduate school at the University of Illinois.
I believe the poems were (1) either written when Mila D. Aguilar (who is a schoolmate at UP High and is also on the net!) was in the stockades during martial law, imprisoned by Marcos or (2) it was because of these poems that she was imprisoned.

This is the first page of a poetry book I'll be creating to go along with a series of Poetry Writing workshops that I'm writing for the International Society of Altered Book Artists.
It may not turn out to be the best choice for a poetry book, because of how tall and skinny it is, but I'm determined to make it work.
I had already prepared the book by covering the pages with text from a book on perennials (the original book was an ABC book on fashion.) Then I used a cosmetic sponge and smoothed a light wash of gesso over the page to subdue the text.

I was on a mission to find a book that I knew you reviewed, so I went breezing through your blog again and I want you to know that I REALLY like your blog.
They call it a "bo peep" book, and I think it refers to the fact there are some little holes in pages where the reader can peek through onto the next page.
I looked to see who did them, but apparently the book is "illustrated with more than 100 pictures by the most distinguished children's book illustrators of the late 19th and early 20th centuries..." I can make a few of the names (Ruth Hallock, Jessie Wilcox Smith, MD Spooner).
