Established in 1879, this publisher of books for nursing students and health professionals, did $30 million in sales in 2004.
Their Avalon Publishing division, which is now an independent company, owns a number of smaller publishers, including Moon Publications, Foghorn Press, Carroll and Graf, Thunder's Mouth, Blue Moon Books, and Marlowe and Co. The distribution arm of this company was sold to Advanced Marketing Services in January 2002.
