When she opened her bookstore last year, Margaret told a Stockholm reporter that she planned to set up events with her fellow booksellers so they could all benefit from each other's presence.
Inspired by the Bookstore Tourism movement, the event is intended to celebrate the town's "unusual concentration of book stops," and to introduce them to consumers who may not be aware of them, organizer Maryann Thomas said.
He is currently in the process of launching the National Council on Bookstore Tourism, a non-profit organization that will partner with booksellers, the travel industry, arts organizations and government agencies across the U.S. to promote the concept.

A group of 45 people traveled by bus to New York City from Harrisburg, Pa., to spend the day browsing on their own through some of 18 recommended bookstores in and around Greenwich Village.
Participants with whom PW spoke before they returned to Pennsylvania emphasized their enjoyment of the many different kinds of stores (most bookstores in the Harrisburg area are chains) and the friendliness and helpfulness of most of the booksellers in the stores they visited.
In the spring, he's planning a bookstore trip to Washington, D.C. Some participants in Saturday's tour want to go again; a few said that if they were unable to get seats on the bus, they might drive behind it.
