An ordinance amending chapter 93 of the Boone County Code of Ordinances to add regulations and penalties pertaining to the use of an all terrain vehicle, dirt bike, or motorcycle off road in a manner which constitutes a public nuisance.

The county's commissioners originally selected Jamestown (on the county's southern border) to be the seat, but a law passed January 26, 1832 forced it to be moved to within two miles of the county's center.
In the county the population was spread out with 28.30% under the age of 18, 6.30% from 18 to 24, 30.20% from 25 to 44, 23.40% from 45 to 64, and 11.80% who were 65 years of age or older.

Boone County was formed from an act of the Virginia General Assembly on March 11, 1847 from Cabell, Kanawha, and Logan counties.
The county was named in honor of Daniel Boone (1734-1820), the famous hunter and explorer, founder of Kentucky, Lieutenant Colonel of the Virginia militia, and member of the Virginia General Assembly representing Kanawha County (in 1791).
Until the county's first courthouse was built at the junction of the Pond and Spruce forks of Little Coal river, court was held in the log church at the mouth of Turtle Creek.

The government of Boone County officially went into operation on July 28, 1871 when three commissioners were sworn into office.
It was decided by these new representatives that the first county election would be conducted on the first Tuesday in January 1872.
A difference of opinion arose over where the county seat should be located and a struggle developed between Albion and Boone, the only two locations with post offices.

The Boone County Landfill serves as the primary disposal facility for all of Boone County; Greene County (except the City of Jefferson); the Cities of Bouton, Granger and Woodward in Dallas County; and the Cities of Farnhamville, Lohrville and Somers in Calhoun County.
The Boone County Landfill is located just west of Boone off of U.S. Turn south at the intersection of Montana Road and U.S. 30 (1.7 miles west of the four-way stop in Boone) and go 1/4 mile to 224th Lane.
Please note that to prevent any type of waste from blowing onto area roadways and into ditches, Boone County has adopted a policy that all loads delivered to the Landfill must be covered with a secured tarp (even if waste is in bags or containers.) Trucks and trailers must also have a tailgate.
