KMFDM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
KMFDM was founded in Paris in 1984 by Sascha Konietzko and German painter/multi-media performer Udo Sturm.
KMFDM also gained notoriety when they were noted as a favourite band of Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, of Columbine High School massacre infamy.
KMFDM reformed in 2002 with Konietzko as the sole original member, but with the return of Raymond Watts, an early member of the group and occasional contributor over the years.

since 1984, KMFDM has been cutting, scraping and ripping the system with it's cathartic use of electronics, snapping guitars, and a continual reminder for the public to trash common knowledge and bandwagon thought for unconventional thinking which aids in questioning the system.
KMFDM began to spread their word through the musical sermons of "murder," "more and faster," "en esch," "thumb thumb" and "more and faster," which they released as a single and a video.
KMFDM had a underground cult of worshippers, but it wasn't until the breakthrough album, 'angst' that they began to tap into the mainstream.

Before the inception of the new KMFDM album and a return to their discarded moniker for Attak's release, KMFDM showcased their Metropolis debut with this, a 4 song single entitled Boots.
When I first picked up the release, I thought it was actually entertaining to hear KMFDM do their coverage of These Boots Are Made For Walkin' in a fashion all their own.
In 2002, Sascha decided it was time to call the group KMFDM again, despite the fact that key members En Esch and Guenter Shulz had not returned to the band.

KMFDM is back, with the same ol' beats, the same ol' lyrics, the same ol' punch.
KMFDM seem to have a hit-and-miss habit with me. It seems like every second album is amazing, and the ones in between just don't catch me. There is some difference in sound quality that tends to put me off before I give the album a chance.
KMFDM is not what you would call a serious band, they mock often, and often the target of their mockery is themselves, so doing a cover of Nancy Sinatra's famous song These Boots are Meant For Walking (but just calling the track "Boots") seems totally appropriate.

Boots was released as a teaser to the new album ATTAK, It contained 2 unique tracks, "Back in the U.S.S.A.", as well as a cover of the Artwoods "These Boots are Made for Walking".
While hoping to offer up KMFDM fans a taste of their new sounds, I felt that the BOOTS left a stale taste in my mouth, doubtful of what was yet to come.
KMFDM has a whole has always been known for it's "out in the open" approach to metaphor world problems and situations in it's lyrics, and the lyrics on ATTAK prove no different.

If all you'd heard from KMFDM was the opening bars of their current single, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'," you'd probably figure the frontman for yet another bloody punk-metal moron.
It's a comeback, their first album in the three years since the bitter Adios, and KMFDM is partying like it's 1989.
Dressed in fl leather down to the knee boots, the blond-mohawked Konietzko barks in German and English over a sonic assault of samples, synthesizers, and hero guitar riffs.

The last time we heard from KMFDM, the legendary industrial powerhouse was saying ADIOS after becoming the victim of a media witch hunt sparked by the Columbine massacre.
After one album and one tour, Konietzko says, "it became pretty apparent that the relationship between MDFMK and a major label wouldn't be too long." With no specific plans for the future, Konietzko decided to dismantle MDFMK just as quickly as he had put it together.
Further proof that things are just as they've always been, KMFDM also recently re-released its long out-of-print debut, OPIUM, only available at www.kmfdm.com or during the recent Sturm&Drang Tour 2002.

All of KMFDM's phases were in some way influential, and they were all distinctive, with anti-political, antiestablishment songs, constant self-reference, Brute's legendary cover artworks and a hard industrial backbone propelling all of this from the underground to the borderline mainstream.
Any rumours that the KMFDM machine was coming unstuck were soon proved true - the group split in 1999 after one final album - 'Adios'.
The idea was to put more emphasis on the musical side of things, with less of all the rock-star clutter that had weighed the old group down.
