In the course of the border clashes, 15 BSF jawans, taken hostage by the BDR from Boroibari in Assam's Mankachar sector on April 18, were killed.
Their bodies were returned to the BSF on April 20 at the Boroibari point on the Indo-Bangladesh border, 6 km from Assam's Mankachar town, which witnessed heavy shelling during the clashes.

New Delhi: The dispute over border fencing and existence of terror infrastructure in Bangladesh are expected to dominate the Director General-level talks between Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) beginning here today (Sept 27, 2005).
"BSF will raise the issue of fencing which is being opposed by BDR in certain areas where India proposes to erect the barricade within the 150 yards (about 200 metres) of the zero line," BSF sources said.

In late October, all major Bangladeshi dailies reported heavy exchange of fire on the border and said that the BDR had been put on high alert to thwart efforts to push in Indian nationals along the border with West Bengal, which is more than 2,250 km long.

Although both the BSF and the Pakistan Rangers have traditionally observed a harvest-time truce, allowing farmers on both sides of the border to go about their work, Jasso Chak residents have not worked on their lands for the last two months.
