Borg starships - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Borg cubes are as powerful as they are immense, with a single cube being capable of annihilating entire fleets of advanced (e.g., Federation Starfleet) ships, and are matched by few others (i.e., "Species 8472").
In 2375, a Borg probe confronted the USS Voyager in an attempt to assimilate the ship and its crew.
A Borg scout ship was found by the crew of the Enterprise-D on a moon in the Argolis cluster in the episode "I, Borg" (TNG).

Borg (Star Trek) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Borg's interlink and use of nanotechnology are also similar to that of the Conjoiners from Alastair Reynolds's Revelation Space series of novels, while their ability to adapt to any attack resembles a faster version of the Inhibitors' ability in the same series.
Borg nanoprobes are injected into the bloodstream of a victim by a number of tubules (usually two) that spring forth from the top of the hand (or some other extremity) of a Borg drone.
The Borg are born as wholly organic beings and are melded with hardware to become biomechanical hybrids.

 Borg probe - Memory Alpha
The Borg probe was a type of small starship used by the Borg, apparently to scout low-resistance targets.
These ships are equipped with a transwarp coil.
The USS Voyager encountered a probe of this type in mid-2375, and managed to destroy it by beaming a photon torpedo into the probe's central plexus.

The Borg sent scouts to probe the Enterprise - the first of these was quickly killed, but subsequent drones proved to have a shield device, which was immune to phaser fire.
Later analysis showed that when the a Borg is attacked the collective mind analyses the destruction of individual drones and creates a defense, which all drones then add to their own systems via their replicators.
Captain Picard was able to use his knowledge of the Borg to locate a weak point on the hull, and by concentrating the firepower of the few remaining ships on that spot the cube was successfully destroyed.

Ex Astris Scientia - Borg Ship Classes
The original top speed of the Earth ship of Warp 1.4 was boosted by the Borg to Warp 3.9 when leaving Earth, then to Warp 4.8 and finally to Warp 4.98, using technology from their ship.
We may assume that the Borg built a new one (as well as a new Queen), since we see the Queen's chamber again in "Unimatrix Zero" and in "Endgame" where the Unicomplex is apparently ultimately destroyed.
The scout ship, basically only a box with some affixed details (the image on the upper left is derived from a concept sketch), could be seen as a full-size mock-up in the episode TNG: "I, Borg".

FSD: Starship Concept Art - Designing Borg Ships
When the Borg came to the big screen, Star Trek's producers wanted everything to be bigger and better, including the Borg's ships.
The only established ship was the Borg cube, and it wasn't surprising that the writers decided that the Borg should also have spherical ships.
His designs for the Borg Queen and her drones were heavily influenced by the ancient Egyptians, so he suggested that the still-undefined larger ship should be an obelisk with the sphere set into the top.

Only one enemy Cyborg ship will surrender a turn and the surrender can be blocked by the enemy's King if he is within 300 LY of the ship that would otherwise surrender.

Probes are a logical consequence considering that the resolution of the built-in long-range sensors is limited and that there is a signal decay over long distances.
Starfleet ships were not yet so equipped in the 2150s but with a mechanical grappler.
Thus, while the warp field is active, the ship's frame of reference remains the frame of reference of subspace and is not dependent on the ships speed.

Designed to aid the Borg’s single minded goal of perfection through assimilation, the Borg cube is a multi-role assimilation platform and combat vessel.
Borg weapons are equally as fearsome, being able to adapt to any known shield technology renders the opposing ship defenseless.
Finally, the Borg cube is equipped with transwarp drive allowing it to travel accross the galaxy in seconds though it lacks maneuverability at sub-light speeds.

Borg vessels generally appear to follow a very similar design philosophy, with the exception of the single vessel created by the Borg under the direction of the android Lore.
A Borg cube can function even if 80% of it is destroyed completely; in the Typhon sector battle an entire fleet plus heavy reinforcements succeeded in inflicting damage only to the outer hull of the Borg cube despite continuous heavy attacks over a prolonged period.
Standard Borg cubes do not seem to be able to achieve this level of speed, so Starfleet analysts have theorized that the new design was an advanced prototype built by the Borg to test out a newly assimilated transwarp technology.

Ships of the J class are as old as 50 years around 2152.
The original top speed of Warp 1.4 was boosted by the Borg to Warp 3.9 when leaving Earth and finally to Warp 4.8, using technology from their ship.
It is curious that the ship in its original configuration is supposed to have warp drive at all, considering that it doesn't look like that and that it wouldn't need it for polar expeditions on Earth.

A ship in that condition is a goner; its crew would already be scuttling the ship and boarding the escape pods.
So not only do you need a particular ship to be in the right place at the right time, but the enemy must violate his own operating procedures and hang around after dumping his garbage, long enough for a ship to decloak and attack.
In Voyager's episodes we see a Borg cube rotate rapidly while at warp to fire upon a bio ship, which is very impressive since it maintained its direction and speed, apparently the cube's orientation is not needed as part of it's drive directional system, which is a very good technology.

That's tough, because there's a lot of ships I think are cool, but I don't remember their names, or what the races were that built them.
I like this ship because it was the first "new" design to come long in a long while, but it still held on to the basic design principals.
So many people have said this ship is ugly, but it has the lines man! It looks great from any angle, it looks fast, it looks sleek, it doesn't look lik it's about to hurl up a furball.

The last act of the Borg cube destroyed in that battle was to launch a sphere which generated a temporal vortex, allowing it to travel into the year 2063 in order to prevent the formation of the Federation.
Fortunately the ship was destroyed by the NX-01 during the journey.
It's possible that the Borg operate several different types of sphere, much as the Federation operates different types of Starship, but given the nature of the Borg it seems more likely that any given sphere could be modified to fit any role.

Scans indicated that the probe's armament was significantly weaker than Voyager's, and when it attempted to assimilate the Starship Captain Janeway beamed a photon torpedo onto the probe to disable it.
Voyager recovered eight thousand metric tons of wreckage from the probe, and although most of it was too badly damaged to be of use some important tactical data was recovered.
This allowed Voyager to mount an attack on a Borg scoutship, recovering a transwarp coil which ultimately allowed them to cut another twenty thousand lightyears from their journey home.

In 2366 (a few days after stardate 43997, or very close to stardate 44001.4) Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Sisko is executive officer of the USS Saratoga while it battles the Borg led by Locutus, the former Captain Jean-Luc Picard, at Wolf 359.
When the ship takes a direct hit, which kills most of the bridge crew and causes the start of a warp core breach, Sisko helps civilians get to the escape pods.
Despite this Sisko tries to free her body in vain, and is ultimately dragged away by a crew member to an escape pod.

It fits here too: logic dictates self-destruct or command lockout; but the ship is kind of a character of its own, and it should survive, and be part of a conflict later in the show.
